Pila – a haven for mountain bikers

Pila in the Aosta Valley is a haven for mountain bikers.  And there are three big dates coming up on the calendar starting from next Saturday:

Summer in the Valle d’Aosta is dedicated to all outdoor activities, but at Pila mountain biking beats them all.

Mountain Biking

This resort above Aosta is the ideal place to spend anything from a few hours to an entire holiday on two wheels.   It’s convenient: you can load your bikes direct on to the cable car from the city center in Aosta, taking them up to 1800m in just 17 minutes.

From here you can take the chairlift up to Chamolè and then head downhill and freeride or take one of the 12 cross country trails that wind through a 185km network.

The mountain bike calendar includes three great events this summer.
It starts July 21 with the third edition of  “Feta Bike“, a festival of cycling events offering something for all levels and running to July 29.
The Stack Sky Bike is a marathon that runs on a 39m of trails and starts on July 22 from the square by the Pila gondola, finishing at the ski school.

Easy mountain biking

The marathon is not the only event of the “Festival of Cycling”: Saturday 21 will host the Family Bike event Relay reserved for parents and children.

On August 4 and 5 the only Italian “iXS CUP DOWNHILL“, a European Championship downhill takes place.  Fans can take part themselves, by making a small donation, and becoming a ‘supporter’ and contributing to the development of the race.  The race will be held during Bike Park of Pila, on the now-proven path that in 2005 hosted the World Cup Downhill. The world’s best downhillers are expected to take part.

Finally, to close the summer season, 15 and 16 September, here is the traditional Desarpa Bike , a downhill MTB Marathon event.
