The Gran Paradiso trail
The Gran Paradiso – 4061 m – is the highest peak completely located on the Italian soil and stands at the heart of the national park of the same name. There are two standard itineraries for reaching the summit, both located in Valsavarenche: one starts from the Chabod Refuge and the other from the Vittorio Emanuele II Refuge. We went up from the Chabod Refuge (below, left) and then went down towards the Vittorio Emanuele Refuge (below, right), thus completing the full itinerary. An amazing experience!
The first day started with a nice trekking of 2.5 hours from Valsavareche to Refuge Chabod – www.rifugiochabod.com, featuring a beautiful view over the Laveciau glacier.
