How to get to the Vallée Blanche from Courmayeur this coming winterContrary to what some ski magazines have written recently, you actually can access the Vallée Blanche from Courmayeur this coming winter.

The Punta Helbronner station may have been closed, however, the old cable car will be open until 2015 and it can take you up to Torino Hut.

Once you arrive there, you then take off your boots and your skis, place them on the elevator and then climb the new staircase. At the top you will find a nice warm room where you can prepare yourself.

Your next step once you are kitted up is to follow the beaten track to Col des Flambeau which marks the beginning of the Vallée Blanche. The track can take you around 10 to 15 minutes depending on the training level.

Overall the journey to the Vallée Blanche from Courmayeur will be more physical this year than years gone by, but it is certainly not that extreme.
