A Return to What Matters: Women-Only Mountain Wellness Retreats in Italy’s Aosta Valley

In a world that moves faster than ever, many women are beginning to seek something different from travel.

Not simply a holiday, but an opportunity to pause, breathe, reconnect and remember what truly matters.

As modern life becomes increasingly busy and connected, many of us find ourselves longing for the simple things that bring genuine wellbeing: meaningful conversations, time in nature, movement, community, friendship, rest and space to simply be.

Today, these things have become a new kind of luxury.

These are values that have long existed in Italy’s smallest region, the Aosta Valley.

Nestled among some of Europe’s highest peaks, life here still follows a gentler rhythm. Family, community, nature and simple pleasures remain at the heart of daily life. Whether it is an afternoon walk through a pine forest, a swim in a mountain spa, a coffee shared with friends in the local bar, or simply taking time to admire the view, there is a sense of “piano piano” – “slowly slowly” one step at a time.

It was this way of life that inspired Hungarian-born Anita Collins, founder of Aosta Valley Holistic.

After spending more than twenty years working in the international fashion industry and living in Hungary, France, the UK and Italy, Anita travelled extensively and experienced first-hand the fast pace of modern life. Eventually, she chose a different path.

Having settled in the Aosta Valley more than a decade ago, she retrained as a Bowen Technique therapist and later integrated Aromatherapy and Bach Flower Therapy into her work. Through years of working with women seeking greater balance and wellbeing, she became increasingly aware of the need for experiences that combine nature, movement, rest and genuine human connection.

Together with internationally trained, but local yoga instructor Virna, she created Aosta Valley Holistic, offering intimate women-only retreats in the Italian Alps.

“Our retreats are not about escaping life,” Anita explains. “They are about returning to what matters. Creating space to slow down, reconnect with ourselves, spend time in nature, move our bodies, share experiences with other women and remember the things that truly nourish us.”

With small groups and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, guests enjoy yoga, guided hikes, wellness experiences, local cuisine and the spectacular scenery of the Italian Alps. Many women arrive alone and leave with new friendships, renewed energy and a deeper connection to themselves.

New Dates Released for the 2026–27 Ski & Yoga Season

Following the success of previous Ski & Yoga Retreats, Aosta Valley Holistic has recently released three new dates for the 2026–27 winter season.

These women-only retreats combine skiing, yoga, wellness and authentic mountain experiences in some of the Aosta Valley’s most beautiful locations. Designed for all ski levels, they offer a welcoming environment for women travelling solo or with friends, whether returning to skiing after many years or discovering the mountains for the first time or experienced skiers but looking for a fun group to ski with.

A special Festive Ski & Yoga Retreat will take place in December in Pila, one of the Aosta Valley’s most scenic ski resorts. Guests can enjoy skiing for all levels, daily yoga, wellness experiences and a visit to the magical Christmas Market in the historic Roman town of Aosta.

Pila offers a fantastic experince with its new gondola connection and mountain facilities, stunning mountain top restaurants offering breathtaking panoramic views across the valley.

Two further Ski & Yoga Retreats will take place in the beautiful Monterosa ski area, known for its authentic alpine villages, extensive ski terrain covering 3 valleys all the way to Pietmond and spectacular mountain landscapes.

Whether guests are experienced skiers, returning to the slopes after many years, or complete beginners, the retreats are designed to be welcoming, supportive and enjoyable for all.

Autumn Retreats Still Available

For those seeking a gentler mountain experience, a limited number of places remain available on the upcoming autumn retreats.

The September Mountain Wellness Retreat offers gentle hiking, yoga, forest bathing, wellness facilities and time to rest and recharge in a beautiful alpine setting at the foot of the Matterhorn.

The October Foliage Hiking & Yoga Retreat combines daily yoga with more active  guided mountain hikes and stunning autumn colours, ideal for women who enjoy being outdoors and are looking for a sense of renewal and adventure.

As more travellers seek meaningful experiences, Aosta Valley Holistic offers something increasingly rare: the opportunity to slow down, reconnect with nature and rediscover the simple pleasures that make life rich.

Because sometimes the greatest luxury is not doing more, but allowing ourselves the time and space to simply be.
